Han Ju Tofu Hot Pot

I come here all the time for cheap and comforting hot pot. There has been complaints that their soup is heavily boiled with MSG but I found it hearty and so perfect for a cold rainy Vancouver night. Since Crystal Mall is popular for International students and the restaurant is small, go early for lunch or dinner times or expect to line up. Another bad thing about this is that you have to order and eat in a rush because it’s just so busy.

Han Ju Tofu Hot Pot is currently going through renovation, go back at around the end of October.

The Korean Style Kimchi Hot Pot (CAD5.95) is my favourite…I don’t need to look at the menu to know that I want this. You have a choice of picking mild, normal or really spicy and I always go with the mild. The hotpot has tofu, squid, baby cabbage, beef, noodle, egg, mussels and kimchi along with a bowl of white rice. I highly recommend this dish for the winter time because you’ll feel so happy after eating this and stepping out into the cold.

Some say that their Korean Style BBQ with Rice (CAD6.95) is a better deal but the after effect of a hot pot and a normal rice is so different. You just can’t compare that content and warm feeling from this rice compared to their hot pot. In a way this is just like the hotpot just not in the pot including spicy tofu, egg, beef, and assorted vegetables.
